About Us

     Welcome to JKM English Mastiffs. We hope one of our pups make it into your family. Here is a little bit of information about us and how we got started. In 2007 I Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Liberty University. God had called me to nursing at a young age and I thought it was my ultimate calling in life. Until..... In 2011 I met the love of my life and best friend. We were married two years later and God blessed us with a healthy baby boy. The following year my husband followed his passion and opened his own small business; JKM FLEET SERVICE. In 2016 I gave birth to our wonderful daughter and that same year our little boy was diagnosed with Autism. I stepped away from Nursing, only to realize my calling in life was to be a mother. My husband now works and runs JKM Fleet Service and I homeschool our children with a traditional Christian curriculum.

 Throughout our journey we decided we wanted  a dog. My husband wanted an English Mastiff. He had spent many nights years earlier with my sisters English Mastiff: Mack. My husband was on baby sitting duty while her and I worked the nightshift. I researched "best dogs for special needs kids"(what I thought was research- google- never a good idea) and determined that if our son developed allergies, it was best to buy a hypoallergenic dog. The dog we decided on was a popular breed, and still is, however it is not a purebred. As my dog trainer told me, she is a mutt.  I was offended because this mutt cost us a lot of money. However, what I came to realize  she was right. I was offended because I didn't know the true definition of a mutt.  Mixed breed. Not a purebred dog. My husband and I had many mutts growing up, they were wonderful pets! However; they were not intentionally bred that way- mother nature happened. Needless to say, our mixed breed dog is now loaned out to mawmaw and pawpaw and we have purebred English Mastiffs.  It turns out our son does not have any allergies to animals and these gentle giants have brought a calmness and sense of peace to our home.
